Local violinist and Suzuki instructor, Kerry Travers, will offer an engaging ‘show and tell’ of the Suzuki teaching process. Several students including Jessie Evans (daughter of Guy Evans) will be playing violin during the presentation. Kerry reports that “as a Suzuki Violin Teacher, I teach music literacy in a manner very similar to the way that infants and young children learn their native languages. We foster imitation by listening to the pieces which we are preparing to play, give encouragement, do lots or repetition and put off the reading of notes until there is already some mastery of the instrument.” Please join Kerry, Jessie, and other students for an engaging and entertaining program about the Suzuki method of musical instruction and literacy.
